Currently, I am an professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the director of the Medical Robotics and Computer Integrated Surgery (MeRCIS) Laboratory at the Case Western Reserve University. I started here in August 2002.


Before becoming a professor at CWRU, I was a postdoctoral researcher / research specialist at the UC Berkeley Robotics and Intelligent Machines Lab between August 2000 and August 2002. I worked with Prof. Shankar S. Sastry and Prof. Frank Tendick.


I received my PhD degree in August 2000 and MS degree in May 1997 from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences of University of California, Berkeley, where I was a student of Prof. Shankar S. Sastry and Prof. Frank Tendick. I received my BS degree in July 1995 from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Türkiye.
