The Advanced Technology Commons represents an opportunity to leverage the
strength in research at CWRU and in University Circle with the availability
of high bandwidth, massive computing, including dark fiber, and community
networking. The major components of the ATC include:
- a gigaPoP operation including fiber rings for education, government and
healthcare
- an Internet Switching Hotel
- CWRU and Affiliates Network Operations
- Technopolis for public discovery space of ongoing research
- New Media Centers for the capture, archiving and replaying of digital productions
of all kinds
- Centers of Excellence in Faculty Research and Development including:
o Discovery through Advanced Visualization
o Advanced Network Applications in the Fine and Performing Arts
o Remote and Simulated Medical Interventions
o Advanced Wireless Applications
o Advanced Networking Research
o Learning Tools and Advanced Network Technology
